Due to the inclement weather - AGAIN - the exam schedule has been changed. You can go to our school website for further information.
Exams are now OPTIONAL. That means that if you CHOOSE to, you can still write your remaining exams on Monday. However, they are not required anymore. If you choose not to write your exam, your final mark will be your term mark with your culminating. For most of you, you already know what that mark is. If you choose to write the exam, then it will count towards your final mark. Some things to keep in mind. Because our exam is only worth 10% of your final mark, mathematically the score that you achieve on your exam will actually do very little to impact your overall mark. Let me map it out for you: If you have an 80% in the course right now with your term mark and your culminating, and you achieve 100% (which is very very unlikely on an English exam) then your final mark would be an 82%. In all likelihood, you would actually achieve a mark closer to 80% on the exam, which would not actually move your mark at all. (Also, for all of you thinking "Ferg sucks at math, that can't be true" which I'm sure some of you are, rest assured, I had my Math Teacher husband do it for me.) Deciding whether or not to write the exam is a decision that you have to make on your own. I'm not at the school today (obviously!) so I don't have access to my markbook, but I will likely be there tomorrow. What I can do to help you make this decision is send you an email with what your mark is and would be without the exam and then you can make an educated decision. Most of you already know your marks because I gave them out before Snowmaggeddon started. If this is something you want, send me an email, and I'll respond tomorrow. The OPTIONAL exam schedule for Monday is as follows: Period C Exam at 9:30 Period D Exam at 1pm If you have any further questions, send me an email and I'll do my best to answer. On behalf of Mother Nature, I do apologize for the nightmare that the last two weeks have been. I've thoroughly enjoyed my time working with you all this semester. Thanks for all the laughs and I hope you learned a thing or two. All the best for the future! - Ferg.
