It's OSSLT day!!!! Woot Woot! You'll all do really well. Don't worry! Be happy!
Today in class we will be celebrating that the OSSLT is over and tidying up the Satire Group work task in prep for tomorrow's presentations. Remember that the Satire Unit Test is on Monday! I'm away today, but the learning doesn't stop! :)
You have the period today to work on your Satire Group Work assignment. You need to fill out the chart, decide who will present the chart (can be more than one person) and who will read the passage from the essay. Practice reading the passage out loud so that you get the tone, pacing etc correct. Presentations on FRIDAY. Good luck with the OSSLT on Thursday! Today we will talk more in depth about how the characters act in the novel as we consider what it means to be a perpetrator, a victim, a bystander and an upstander. We will also go over some tips for the OSSLT.
Today we will continue discussing To Kill a Mockingbird in more depth. We will discuss the major plot events before moving on to discuss our reflections on our identities. What makes us who we are? How do others perceive us?

We will also be doing some grammar lessons over the next few days. Tomorrow we will be starting a satirical newspaper report assignment. The purpose of this assignment is to practice your satirical skills and also to practice for the OSSLT. You will be required to use the format that the OSSLT requires. I will post copies of the assignment once I get a chance to scan it all. On Wednesday of this week, I will be out of class at a meeting. You will be working on the Satirical Newspaper report assignment. Today will be a work period for the Persuasive Essay. Remember that your last opportunity for me to edit your essay is today by 4.
Hopefully you've all edited and revised your essays. Today we will continue with our study of Satire. We will be reading through an essay on Cyberschool (attached as a document to an earlier post) and we will try to decide what is being satirized.
